Australian football legend Tim Cahill decided to retire from his football career at the age of 39. He is one of the top scorer in history with 50 goals
The former Milwall and Everton player Tim Cahill broke up their international career in the color of Australian team in November 2018, ending the journey where he became the top scorer in history with 50 goals after 108 appearances. Earlier, after closing the 2018 World Cup, Cahill announced his farewell to Australia, but he continued to play a friendly match with Lebanon in November, as a tribute to the NHM.
When he was in Australian team for World Cup 2018 in Russia, Cahill was a free player after being terminated by the Milwall club. Then, in September 2018, the senior moved to the Indian Super League for Jamshedpur Club and had two goals after 11 games, before the contract ended.
In a recent statement with Optus Sport (Australia), Cahill insisted he was not looking for another team. Instead of that, he would pursue other interests.
“No, I was an old man in football. I really wanted to continue playing, but you know, I was 39 years old. I had a great time in 6 months in India, but I interested in television and will start learning to become a coach, spending time with family and relaxing a bit, “Cahill said.
Cahill played more than 200 games for both Everton and Millwall in his career in England from 1998 to 2012. After that, he played for New York Red Bulls in MLS and in China for Shanghai Shenhua and Zhejiang Greentown, before returning back home to Melbourne City.
“It’s great to play on four big continents. I’ve had a great career and I’m really grateful to all. I’m a person who respects matches and will take the time to learn more. Coaching is a sure thing, “Cahill confirmed his next goal.
